GREEN MATCH FUND: ONE DONATION, TWICE THE IMPACT
We’re very excited to be taking part in The Big Give’s #2for1nature #GreenMatchFund 2024 campaign to raise more funds to support community-led nature-based solutions throughout the Scottish highlands and islands.
For one week only, from 18th to 25th April 2024, every £1 donated to HIEF via the Big Give website will be matched – meaning you can DOUBLE your impact for nature at no extra cost to you.*
There are so many incredible local heroes working hard to protect and restore nature in the highlands and islands including:
- helping establish a nursery for native oysters to regenerate lost oyster beds
- providing training & equipment enabling citizen scientists to study river health by analysing riverfly
- studying & bio-banking the enigmatic algae which turns snow red
- ensuring that the Scottish rainforest regeneration benefits the rarest lower plants
- supporting communities who challenged the use of potentially harmful machines on behalf of whales, dolphins & porpoises
- inspiring the next generation with a love for & thus interest in protecting & preserving nature.
A donation to HIEF allows you to pool funds with like-minded donors to leverage your impact and make a positive difference to nature on your doorstep.
All the funds raised by the GREEN MATCH FUND campaign will be added to our grant budget, enabling HIEF to support even more inspiring, community-led nature-based solutions in the highlands and islands. Thus supporting local project champions to maximise returns for nature whilst also helping to mitigate the impact of the current climate and biodiversity crises.
Projects like the innovative ‘Cutting Down’ project tackling net cuttings – a pervasive source of marine plastic pollution, especially on island beaches.
Every donation will help us to support more grassroots nature-based solutions, in turn helping them to replicate and scale their impact. You can see all the projects we have funded to date here.
