The Economics of Biodiversity
Nature has been officially recognised as ‘our most valuable asset’ with the recent publication of the Dasgupta Review. The review discusses the harsh realities of our increasing demand for resources and the earth’s synonymous decreasing capabilities to meet them, suggesting a new economic framework whereby a nation’s value should reflect the health of its natural environment and biodiversity. It also highlights the power of conservation work and investing in nature as ways to combat the threats, tackle environmental issues and protect nature, starting with our own back gardens!
