HIEF 2 year review
2 years – 27 projects supported- £488k funding awarded
The Highlands & Islands Environment Foundation (HIEF) is very excited to share an update on our first 2 years awarding grants to support community-led environmental projects throughout the highlands & islands.
In-shore marine, freshwater, forest & woodland – we’ve supported impactful projects in each of these habitats. HIEF uses expert knowledge to identify the projects that will deliver the greatest gains for nature & then provides the rocket fuel needed to supercharge this work. You can see the projects we have previously funded here.
There are so many incredible local heroes working hard to protect & restore nature & implementing nature-based solutions to combat some of the challenges we all face as a result of the climate & biodiversity crises.
However, the need for grants to regenerate nature on the ground greatly outweighs the funding currently available.
Ready to give back to nature?
HIEF welcomes donations which enable us to support more communities & their projects – helping them to replicate & scale their impact. Donations can be made here.
