Tackling environmental threats
Building local leadership for marine recovery
£14,450 awarded
Scotland’s inshore seas underpin the environmental, cultural and economic wellbeing of coastal communities, yet many marine habitats are declining due to damaging fishing practices. Despite growing awareness of these issues, many local authorities lack the information, capacity and confidence to engage effectively in marine decision making done by central government.
This project will strengthen engagement in marine decision-making across three Local Authorities through a range of activities. Concise and accessible policy briefings will be complemented by tailored sessions discussing local marine issues. Community-facing events will celebrate sustainable local seafood and create space for constructive discussion about local fisheries management.
